Fall-Line Motorsports has strong showing
in Koni Challenge Finale

2 cars finish 6 hour race in 6th and 13th position

Alton, Va (October 7, 2007)- The final race of the 2007 Grand-Am Koni Challenge season saw Fall-Line Motorsports field 2 cars for the 6 hour affair. Proper preparation by the team was crucial for this long race, and the Fall-Line team did an excellent job of this, and both cars finished running strong lap times right up to the end of this nearly 400 mile long race.

The 2007 season was a second successful building block for Fall-Line in their growth as a race team in these ranks. Fall-Line started in Grand-Am Koni Challenge in 2006 with a 4 race season, and has followed that up by competing in 8 of the 12 total races run this year. “ We have set goals for our team, and have successfully accomplished them for 2 years in a row” said team co-owner and driver, Mark Boden “This is a very competitive series, and doing everything right is the only way to be competitive. It takes time to learn the ins and outs of the series, and to gain the respect of Grand-Am, and our fellow competitors. I think we’ve done a good job of that.”

For the final race of the 2007 season, Fall-Line campaigned both of its BMW M3’s in the GS class. The #28 Fall-Line car was driven by team co-owner’s Steve Jenkins and Mark Boden, joined by veteran Nick Ham. Ham qualified the car in a strong 7th position in an ultra competitive 32 car field. His qualifying time was less than 0.2 seconds off of the 2nd place car. Ham started the car and after an early penalty for rough driving took the car from 15th place right back up to the top 10, setting the 3rd fastest lap of the race on the way. Just more than an hour into the race, Ham pitted for fuel from the 7th position, and handed the car over to Boden. Boden ran a very competitive, full fuel stint and pitted under yellow from 4th position, and handed the car over to Jenkins. He ran close to a full stint before another caution came out, the decision was made to leave Jenkins in the car and just fill him with fuel. “Doing a double (stint) was something new for me” commented Jenkins. “Over 2 hours in the car, especially with tires going away due to the heat, required more concentration than I thought I had!”

Jenkins pitted from 4th position, and handed the car over to Ham for the last 1:40 of the race, Ham took the car from 13th to 6th, fighting a low brake pedal, as the pads were completely gone after 6 hours of hard braking, he held on for a strong top ten finish. "Another great team effort from Fall-Line, the pits stops were all spot on, Mark and Steve drove incredible stints and the car ran flawlessly thanks to the hard work of JP Novelli and his crew.” Ham commented. “I thought we'd have a chance to move up some more spots at the end but with about an hour to go the brake pedal went to the floor on the back straight so I knew we had to either back off or stop for new brakes. We decided to back off and preserve a well deserved 6th place finish"

The #46 Fall-Line Motorsports car was joined with sponsorship by MacNeil Automotive / WeatherTech for this race, and was driven by Christian Miller, David MacNeil, and Eric Curran. Miller did a great job in a car he hadn’t driven until this weekend. He was faster in every session he drove, right up to the end of the race. Qualifying the car 20th, Miller started the race and moved the car steadily forward, finally pitting from 13th position. MacNeil took the helm for his first ever Koni Challenge race laps, and did a great job. He held his position, and kept the car clean, a tough job in this series. After a full fuel stint, MacNeil pitted and Curran took over. Curran ran fast laps his entire stint and got the car up to the top ten before pitting and putting Miller back in the car. In the last hour of the race, Miller was also fighting the fading brakes, but still posted the fast lap for the car in his last stint, finishing a strong 13th place.

Fall-Line Motorsports had 4 top ten qualifying positions, a 3rd place finish, and 2 top ten finishes in the 2007 season, proving they are a competitive team. “ We look forward to a full season next year, and a serious run for the 2008 Koni Challenge Championship” said Jenkins.
